Madeira island I had in my plans since a long time. The biggest obstackle were air ticket high prices.
Now this belongs to past. After building new airport, Madeira Island opened up to the mass tourism and Czech travel agency Fisher
started to fly to Canary Islands and Moroco via Madeira. It is possible to buy a single airticket (cca 370Eu) or relatively expensive
tours. We took a risk and wait for the "last minute" offer. It payed off and we bought for approx. 400Euro/per 8day tour incl acomodation
and breakfast. Due to fact that island is relatively small staying in one place is not a big disadvantage.
Madeira is superb. It is comfortable holiday - no big extrems. Those who like mountain walking will fall in love to Madeira.
The sea and beach lovers should rather avoid this island... The biggest attraction are "levadas" - walks alongside the irrigation channels surrounded
by flowers and often going through tunnels or carved in rock slopes.
We did our trip in three persons. Me and my wife Petra with our friend Vlada.
